Who is this guy?Robert Olstein - Portfolio manager of Olstein Financial Alert Fund
How do ya say his name?Easy, "ole steen."
What's he manage?The fund is basically an eclectic value fund, investing in stocks, and one in which the portfolio may be traded frequently.
How long has he been doing that? Bob's been in the financial industry for 32 years and spent about 25 of those years publishing reports about corporate earnings. That, and his formal education in mathematics, is where he gets his numbers driven outlook. The fund's inception date was in September 1995.
How's the fund performed?In 1999, it was up 34.89%. At the end of March, 2000, it was up 5.73%. Even after the market's recent yo-yo-ing, as of April 27, the fund's total return was still ahead 5.6%.
Anything interesting about him?He's got a great sense of humor, loves reading, playing tennis and deep sea fishing. The name of his boat is the Bronx Zoo.
