Who is this guy?President of a Minneapolis-based money management firm bearing his name.
What's he manage?A handful of different mutual funds that invest all of their assets into other mutual funds. This concept is called "fund of funds".
How long has he been doing this?Bob opened his own firm in 1990 and put together three of the four fund of funds portfolios he manages in 1995.
How's the fund performed? The Markman Aggressive Growth Portfolio's return over the past year ending March 30, 1999, was up 23.45 percent; the Moderate Portfolio, ahead 19.37 percent; and Conservative Portfolio, up 15.51 percent during that same period.
Anything interesting about him?Right now he's enjoying all the time he can playing tennis and hanging around with his almost-teenage kids. Once those teen-age years begin, he figures he'll be left in the dust as his kids move on.
When was the interview conducted?Tuesday, May 11, 1999, over the telephone.
