Who is this guy?Fries has been in the investment management business for over 30 years and started out as a securities analyst and bank investment officer.
How do ya say his name?As you might think: "fries"
What's he manage?The Thornburg Value Fund
How long has he been doing that?Ever since the fund began in 1995. He actually moved from one fund family to Thornburg to create this fund and write its prospectus.
How's the fund performed?Great. Since its inception on Oct. 2, 1995 through March 31, 1999, the Thornburg Value Fund has a total return of 143.52%. During that same time period, the S & P 500's total return was 143.65%. The fund's year-to-date total return, through Sept. 8, 1999, was 17.47%, while the S & P 500's was 10.33%.
Anything interesting about him?Absolutely. Along with being a big-picture kind of thinker, Bill is a sportsman who, while he lived in Texas, was into hunting. Now he's moved to New Mexico, it's fly fishing that's captured his heart.
