800-225-6265

real audio - 28.8k

Who is this guy?Duncan Richardson - Portfolio Manager of Eaton Vance Tax-Managed Growth Fund
How long has he been at his job? Richardson has been portfolio manager on the Eaton Vance Tax-Managed Growth Fund since 1990. He also manages three other Eaton Vance funds, joined that firm in 1987 and is a CFA.
How has the fund performed?Year-to-date through Oct. 31, the fund was up 8.7 percent. In 1999, it was up 17.3 percent and in calendar year 1998, it was up 25.42 percent.
Anything interesting about him?Plenty. First he's a nuclear sub guy who served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service for five years. As a result, he says that he's "a manager who doesn't like to take unnecessary risks and doesn't like surprises." FYI, you can read about the sub he was on in the book, Blind Man's Bluff. More recently - - - and on dry land - - - Richardson is a runner and has run in the Boston Marathon on four occasions.
When was the interview conducted?Nov. 16, 2000
