BOSTON, MA, March 2, 2001- State Street Research extends its congratulations to James P. Hoffa, General President, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, for receiving the "Labor Man of the Year Award" presented by the Bay Area Union Labor Party.

The Bay Area Union Labor Party is honoring Hoffa for his work in bringing unity, pride and strength to the Teamsters since taking office in 1999. Under his leadership, union membership has increased and the union budget is balanced for the first time in nearly ten years. In recognition of this honor, several representatives from State Street Research will attend the awards dinner in San Francisco on March 3. The firm also purchased a two-page advertisement in the program book commemorating this auspicious event.

"State Street Research is proud to offer its congratulations to James Hoffa on receiving this award honoring his determination and commitment to rebuilding and reuniting the International Brotherhood of Teamsters," said Kevin Wilkins, Executive Vice President, Head of Retail Marketing and Client Services Group. "It is a wonderful tribute to a man who has done so much to bring together union members throughout North America."
