
STATE STREET RESEARCH & MANAGEMENT COMPANY APPOINTS PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER
BOSTON, MA, December 10, 2001- State Street Research & Management Company,
with a history dating back to 1924, announced today that Alyson Riley has
joined the firm as Assistant Vice President and Public Relations Manager.
Ms. Riley will be responsible for overseeing various communications programs
for State Street Research including the development of public relations
strategies and media plans for the firm's people, products and services.
She will manage the expansion of the firm's recognition in the industry as
well as broaden visibility in the local community. Ms. Riley will serve as
spokesperson for the firm as the direct interface with the news media.

Ms. Riley joins State Street Research from State Street Corporation where
she was Assistant Vice President, Public Relations responsible for developing
and
executing public relations strategies for the investor services and
investment management divisions in support of the corporation's global
business objectives. Previously, she was an Account Executive for The
Hubbell Group, a full service public relations firm specializing in
communications for the financial services industry. Ms. Riley also served
as a Multimedia Developer for Interactive Design, Inc. She is a graduate of
Ithaca College with a B.S. in corporate communications.
